Having just returned from a four day stay in your hotel last week I'd like to quickly pass on some accolades.

First, much thanks to Wing, who handled my reservation and saw to it that my request to stay in the upper part of the hotel, if at all possible, was honored.  This may not seem that important, but it was to me, and she did exactly what she promised, while being clear that she could not guarantee any particular room. I was very well handled during this phone call and managed to get exactly what I asked for. A nice way to start the trip.

Second, for a variety of reasons important only to me, I approached Casey at the desk to make another request regarding room location. I was given no resistance at all, and again, got exactly what I asked for, all with a smile and perfectly courteous relaxed professionalism. Each time I saw her after that, for various questions about restaurants and even where to buy good sunglasses, she was just as pleasant and helpful. This girl is a real asset to your desk team.

I will close with the dining room staff, which was unbelievably service conscious for a buffet style environment. Sarah stands out as particularly attentive to guests, again always with a very courteous manner, even at her young age. Some very good hiring/training practices are apparent at the Ocean Plaza.

I know the hotel was light last week, quite obviously. In such a case it could be argued that good service might be easier to come by. But the reasons your staff handled me well are of absolutely no interest to me, they do not change the facts. Your staff added to my enjoyment of the trip, and that is really all there is to it.

In all, the way I was treated at your property will bring me back, and I will recommend you strongly to anyone headed that way, whether they are looking to stay on the beach or not. Many thanks again and hats off to anyone I have not mentioned.

Sincerely,

Dale T.

To Whom It May Concern:

Thank you so much for a wonderful Mardi Gras weekend stay at your hotel.  Everyone was extremely friendly from the reservations, check-in, and restaurant staff.  We are planning another trip over the EVP Volleyball Tour and will definitely be staying at the Ocean Plaza.  Keep up the great work!

We'd like to thank everyone at the Ocean Plaza Beach Resort for making our stay on Tybee Island such a great time.

The beautiful view of the ocean from our room's balcony was the icing on the cake.

It was our first time visiting Savannah and we'll have to come back because there's so much more to see and do.

Thank you,

We enjoyed our stay at The Ocean Plaza Condo. The condo was perfect, the rooms were just the right size and the maid services was great. As a mom I really was grateful for not having to clean the dishes or make the beds. I will recommend everyone to stay here. The restaurant was nice also and a great location for the other stores and bike rentals and so on. WOW what a great vacation.

Thank You

“I load the trunk, fill the cooler with ice, and we’re ready to go. Just one pit stop on the way, and as usual, its Dublin’s McDonald’s. A quick meal and we ‘re back on I-16 and headed for Heaven On Earth…Tybee Island to the rest of the world.

We always let the windows down as we enter Savannah, and can almost feel something magical enter the blood stream and slow us down, way down. We pass by the usual landmarks, getting closer, getting closer. Then the landmarks become even dearer, Tybee Market, Sting Ray’s, and there it is…the Ocean Plaza, or OP as we called it for years. A quick check-in and then it’s unload the trunk, top off the cooler and head for the pool.

The newer pool is nice, vinyl lined, six feet deep, with a privacy fence. But I prefer the old concrete job better myself; it’s eight feet deep, and though the bar’s not open a hidden radio plays comfortable music from a local station. The DJ takes a call from a troubled listener, plays a song of comfort, then listens to a happier soul and plays something upbeat. I swim, sun, enjoy the music, the sound of children shrieking and splashing. I am truly, totally relaxed. It’s almost better than being in church, almost.

Next stop; the Dolphin Reef, Ocean Plaza’s neat restaurant hanging out over the beach. The crab cakes turn out to be huge, but delicious and the crab and lobster bisque laced with wine is almost a meal in itself. We dine, watch the waves crashing on the sand below us, while a Boy Scout troop follows their leader down the beach.

More swimming, and then we try to catch some crabs off the pier on the back of the island. No luck, but it was fun trying. We walk, pick up seashells, admire a fluttering kite bigger than I am, and watch the big gambling ship blinking out in the ocean.

The line at the Breakfast Club is way too long but some of the diners advise we can pick up biscuits at the ice cream shop one street over; delicious! More swimming, some souvenir shopping and then it’s time for the annual Sting Ray ritual meal. Norman orders the Captain’s platter, enough for at least four adults but with Kaylee and Tyler’s help, we manage to get it all eaten, plus my bowl of lobster bisque. As we dine, a crow and a starling police up the area around us …’I’ll get that fry for you’. Stuffed to the gills, we know we better walk this one off…and we do.

As we rest on Tybee’s pier, a young lady inserts a peppy CD in a portable radio on one table, then hops up on the next table and begins dancing as she twirls light-up hula hoops. She does a good job with several going at one time, one on her waist, one on each arm, another around her legs…she’s good! People stop, admire, and kindly contribute to her tip jar. What a job! Rested, we wander on back to the room, and then the pool. The secret radio plays “I Hope You Have the Time of Your Life” and I am, I really am.

We did take one educational tour to UGA’s marine exhibit and took a neat trip down memory lane on the way back via Victory drive through Savannah.

Time to go, repack the trunk, more ice in the cooler, one last walk on the beach and then turn in the keys. Bye Tybee, I had fun. See you next year.”

We just came back from a stay with you on May 14th through May 16th, and it was not long enough! We enjoyed our stay immensely! From the moment we were checked in by Joyous (exceptional and friendly personality) at the front desk, we knew we were in paradise. We loved the beautiful beach and the nice spacious room. The staff is helpful and friendly. We would like to give special commendation to Rob the bartender. Dude, you do the work of 5 people and all with a smile and a great attitude!  You are a huge asset to the business! Waitress Allison waited on us Friday evening. She did an excellent job and really made our dinner experience a pleasant one. She was so attentive to our needs and everyone around us.  Thanks Allison! You made my birthday and our dining experience a pleasant one!

We will be back, but for a longer stay.”

“Great Service!!

We had the pleasure to stay at the Ocean Plaza Resort March 27th – 31st.

We would like to compliment your staff overall, they did a great job! In particular, however, we want to give special recognition to your restaurant manager, Deborah. Deborah is truly an asset to your team and went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure our experiences in the Dolphin Reef Restaurant and Sports Bar were all enjoyable and really first rate. We enjoyed talking with Deborah and appreciated everything she and her staff did in serving us.

Deborah, Matt and Rob represent your establishment well and you should be proud to have them on staff. In addition, there was another gentleman working in the bar on the night of March 30th who was equally as professional and enjoyable. We regret we did not catch his name.

Thank you for a great vacation! Needless to say, we will be back and will highly recommend Ocean Plaza.”

“My wife and I want to thank all of you for the great vacation we had at Ocean Plaza. The housekeeping staff and the restaurant were great. My daughter Melinda is employed in the restaurant, and she loves her job because the staff she works with. All the people that are employed there are so helpful. That’s what makes it a great place. My wife and I are looking forward to our next visit.”

Thanks Again,

“Thank you for helping to make this Thanksgiving such a pleasurable experience for me and a group of six others I love. The lavish buffet was beautifully presented with a lot of variety and really delicious dishes. Our only complaint was that we over ate! I would particularly like to thank two people, one of whose name I didn't get. First, Chris (I believe he was in maintenance) provided us with a flashlight and told us to call him if we had any other needs. And second, the lady who appeared to be in charge of the breakfast. She was fun, friendly and a delight.

I've stayed with you several times, and have often thought about trying one of the other options. No more. . .we will all be back to the Ocean Plaza.”

“We enjoyed our stay and found the accommodations fit our needs and comfortable. The closeness to the pier, pavilion and village area was good, plus great walking the beach. Touring Tybee Island was fun, and the hotel was convenient for this.

Thank You,

“My husband and I dined at the Ocean plaza restaurant on Tybee Island on the 19th of June. It was about 10 till 10 pm and had already left one restaurant because we waited 45 mins with no seat and we were very hungary and had little hope that we would be satisfied. We were greeted with enthusiasm and a smile. The young lady's name was Melissa. That's all I know. She had a long, blonde pony-tail. She was very busy with lots of other guests and seemed to be running the whole floor including a party and the bar. I knew that they were about to close and wasn't sure if she would allow us to order. She didn't hesitate. She offered suggestions, which were all good, and didn't seem to be bothered in the least that we were the last customers to order and had no idea what we wanted. I have waited on thousands of tables in my lifetime and know that she could have very easily just told us that the kitchen was closed for dinner. What amazed me was that she ran everywhere, upstairs, downstairs, to the bar, to the table. It looked to me as though she were doing two peoples jobs and she did it all with a smile and without complaining or looking frazzled or rolling eyes. We were checked on often but not too much, the food was on the table quick, and it was delicious. She didn't forget one thing. Melissa did it all. My husband and I are very critical when it comes to customer service, especially restaurants since I have managed several. I have done every job that there is in a restaurant, and if I had one now, I would want Melissa working for me.

I just want you to know that I have never filled out comment cards, there usually aren't enough lines for me to tell what I really think, so I just don't bother. Melissa's service was excellent, the best I've had in years, and I thought you should know what a value you have in her.”

Your Ocean Plaza was the absolute best hotel we've ever booked.  I was very unsure before booking because of the negative [online] comments, and complaints, BUT- I'm so glad I did. I booked a room with 2 queen beds, and Ocean View, OH my god, the view was awesome. There was no gigantic dune in front of our suite to block our view at all, (it looked like something you see on TV).  The ships passing were a big deal for my husband and two teenage boys.  They really enjoyed that to.  Our room was very clean, bathrooms-very clean, towels, wash cloths- very clean and neat (not stained at all), we had a coffee pot with coffee and cups, shampoos, soap bars, the works, very clean.  Housekeeping kept our room stocked with fresh clean towels, no problem. My husband, myself, and our boys enjoyed the Hotels Lounge and Grill, the giant TV's were great to watch the Georgia football game while we had dinner. The complaints I've seen posted about the staff in the lounge are not true at all- They were very nice, and helpful- Not Rude like others are saying. The food was very good.  It's a great place to sit and enjoy dinner, football, and see the ocean at the same time..Wonderful. My husband ALWAYS complains about everywhere we stay when travel, BUT- not this time, He really enjoyed, the seafood buffet, and free breakfast (which was huge).  All in all- We have no complaints at all.  It's our first time here on the Island, and would like to Thank the Hotel Staff for making our stay what we hoped it would be.  Thank you very much, and we highly recommend booking the OCEAN PLAZA.

We had a fabulous time on Tybee Island, and our accommodations at Ocean Plaza were just perfect.  I am still thinking about that wonderful meal at Dolphin Reef Restaurant.  It's a good thing I can't eat like that every day!  But what a pleasure it was.

I checked out yesterday, and I just wanted to let someone know about my stay. It was my first time on Tybee Island, and it was a great trip. I was there on business and didn't think I would enjoy myself because of that. But, I had the pleasure to be handled by your front desk agent Joyous. She checked me in as well as out, both in a timely manner. I was new to the area and had to find a gift worth $100 to donate for an auction. She recommended Seaside Sisters, and it was a great choice. Also, the breakfast was a great start to my day. It was not the normal continental breakfast. My room was great and so was housekeeping staff.  Needless to say, I will be returning. Maybe next time not for business, and I will bring my family along. THANKS AGAIN FOR A GREAT STAY!!!

My daughter, mother, and myself stayed three nights at the Ocean Plaza. We drove into Savannah and enjoyed time on Tybee Beach as well. We really enjoyed your hotel. The breakfast buffet was wonderful at Dolphin Reef Restaurant. The location of your hotel made it very easy to relax on the beach or walk a couple blocks up to visit shops. Your staff was all very pleasant. The rooms were nice and clean. It was a very nice stay.

Our two night stay was great, from the very helpful and congenial staff in
the office when we checked in to the awesome breakfast buffet. Our ocean
view room was spacious, and we especially enjoyed seeing the sunrise from
our little porch each morning. We found Tybee Island to be very peaceful and
refreshing.

To Whom it May Concern:

We stayed at your hotel from March 16-20th.  This was our first time staying at your hotel but have been to Tybee many times.

We wanted to write to you about one of your employees.  Everyone working at the hotel was very nice however there was one which really stood out.  It is Ms. Joan who works the breakfast in the Dolphin Reef. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we looked forward to seeing her a couple of mornings at breakfast.  She was there two days of our stay to greet us with a big smile and wonderful personality.

Both of us are managers for companies in a tourist area in Tennessee and we both know how rare it is to have employees who not only do a good job but also stand out and make a difference to your guests.  Joan was that person to us, and we just wanted to let you know how lucky you are to have her as an employee.

Thanks for the hospitality, and we look forward to coming back to Tybee this summer!

Sincerely,

Kurt M.
